Class Description

Core Classes

Mandarin Chinese
      These classes are taught using an immersion method that combine structured learning with developing speaking, writing, and reading skills though interactive lesson plans that incorporate poems, stories, word games, etc.
      The objective of our Mandarin Chinese classes is to help students develop communicative competence and proficiency in comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing Mandarin Chinese as well as cultural awareness. Each student will be given an overall assessment before being placed in a class.
      Teachers will encourage active participation during class, can introduce new material in addition to reviewing and practicing material that has already been taught.
      We will also incorporate the practice of Chinese calligraphy to help students understand how to write Chinese characters.

Fine Arts Class
       Fine arts classes are taught with the founders’ specially curated curriculum that stress on teaching students fundamental classical art techniques through the usage of different mediums.
      Teachers aim for classes to be a creative and learning process, by helping students develop a strong basic skill set and master the different mediums that are taught.
       Students are given an evaluation and then a personalized lesson plan that tailors to their level and interests. The objective is for students to be able to take the techniques, skill set, sense of aesthetics, and understanding of theories/concepts beyond the classroom so that they have effective artistic abilities for their future.
      Teachers are also always available to guide and give students extra help if they are interested in participating in any art competitions or art shows.

Math 
Individualized curriculum can be developed based on stud need/goals. Classes include: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, IB Math, Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics,

Homework Help
     
In this class, students will first be guided to finish their homework efficiently; this is accompanied by individual tutoring to help the student understand and internalize the key concepts. 
      Additionally, the teacher will use methods to help students develop speech and communication abilities by interacting with each other on the material the student learns.

Enrichment Classes

Singapore Math
In this class students will be provided with the necessary learning experiences beginning with the concrete and pictorial stages, followed by the abstract stage to enable them to learn mathematics meaningfully. This approach encourages active thinking process, communication of mathematical ideas and problem solving. Singapore Math develops the foundation students will need for more advanced mathematics.

CogAT
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)
 is a multiple-choice K-12 assessment that measures reasoning skills with different types of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal questions. Schools commonly administer the CogAT for admissions into gifted and talented programs.There are 14 different levels of the CogAT that are administered based on the child's age and the policy of the school district. In this class students will practice skills to help them get familiarize with the content and prepare for the test.

ACT
​The ACT mathematics test is a 60-question, 60-minute test designed to assess the mathematical skills students have typically acquired in courses taken up to the beginning of grade 12. Core topics like real and complex number systems, linear, polynomial, radical, and exponential relationships, congruence and similarity relationships or surface area and volume measurements, center and spread of distributions, applications and analysis of data collection methods, understanding and modeling relationships in bi-variate data, and calculate probabilities will be covered during the class. Students will work on actual test problems asked on past ACT tests.
​SAT
The objective of this course is to review and prepare students for the Mathematics sections of the SAT. The class  will focus on the overview of the structure for the Math component of the SAT. In addition, students will review math skills and test-taking tips and strategies. Core topics in Algebra, Geometry and Statistics will be covered during class to help students achieve procedural fluency and conceptual understanding of the subject.

Yoga
Yoga classes are offered at elementary to intermediate level for after school students and for families as one of our evening classes. Elementary to intermediate classes are intended as a break for students after a day in their school, to relax and exercise with yoga movements. Evening classes are designed for all ages and levels, and to be more family friendly. The objective of all our yoga classes is to stretch and do movements with instruction, and be more mindful. The classes help our students become healthier in the body as well as mind.

Rhythmic Gymnastics
An introductory class to rhythmic gymnastics intended for students to relax and have fun with after a tiring day at school. Our classes will be less intense and non-competitive. Rather, we intend to encourage the practice and usage of rhythmic gymnastics to improve balance, flexibility, strength, power, and hand-eye coordination.

Aerobics
A low intensity physical exercise for children that incorporates dance movements and games. This class encourages kids to be active after a sedentary day of classes. This class will also help students develop aerobic metabolism, flexibility, strength, and endurance.

Music
Professional Classical music classes that combine music theory with different instruments. Group classes are more interactive and combine practice with learning from observation. Individual classes are based on assessment and personalized lesson plans. The goal is to improve each student's musical ability, understanding of classical music, and develop a higher interest and appreciation for various genres of music.
